Is it expensive?

NO, with our club there is no membership fee or initial outlay, just pay as you train, with no hidden extras. The only initial outlay is for a license which includes insurance.

I’m not sure it’s what I’m looking for?

People join us from all walks of life and for many different reasons; weight loss, self confidence, personal safety, competition, hobby, to meet new friends and many other reasons too. You’ll never know until you try, and your first lesson is free.

Am I too old?

Our oldest members are in their 60’s and we have people of all physical types and abilities. You’ll be introduced gently and safely into our classes so that you have the best experience possible.

Martial arts, is one of the few hobbies that you can continue to do no matter what age or ability. It keeps your joints flexible, your muscles firm and you mind sharp. And it's FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is karate all about fighting?

NO, absolutely not. Karate concentrates mainly on kata; this is a sequence of moves against an imaginary opponent. 80% is all about kata and 20% doing blocking techniques. Karate is not a full contact sport unless you wish to pursue that side of the art. We do not push people into any thing they do not want to do.

Do I need any Equipment?

Not to begin with, just turn up with loose clothing like a track suit. If you enjoy Karate and continue to train it might be possible that you take your first belt after 12 weeks, it is at this stage you would require a Karate Suit (GI) but normally people buy a suit after about 6 weeks.

How can I find out more?

How long dose it take to become a Black Belt?

Three years, that is if you grade every three months. It may sound a long time but we do not give belts away, you as a student have to earn them. Knowing you have given your all makes becoming a black belt even more special.
